Infrastructural support of the urainian economy according to international indexes as a challenge for public governance

Abstract

Introduction. The development of public governance mechanisms that would ensure the modernization of the infrastructural sector of the national economy - aimed at creating favorable institutional conditions for its renewed development and strengthening competitive positions in the globalized economic space - highlights the need to analyze the trends in infrastructure functioning and its impact on economic development processes using international indexes.

Purpose of the research. The purpose of the article is to identify development trends in infrastructure according to international indexes, determine strengths and existing problems in infrastructural support, and define approaches for responding to these challenges by the public governance system.

Research methods. The following methods were used in the study: systematization, comparison, generalization, system analysis, as well as logical and dialectical methods.

Results. The article substantiates the need to use international indexes to form an information–analytical basis for public governance of infrastructural support for economic development. It presents Ukraine’s positions in the CMS Infrastructure Index and global trends in infrastructure development. The development of Ukraine’s infrastructure is analyzed using indicators of the Global Innovation Index. Trends, strengths, and problems of infrastructure development are identified using the Network Readiness Index. It is concluded that overcoming complex problems in the infrastructural support of the economy requires the development of an effective infrastructure policy and efficient public governance mechanisms for its realization.

Perspectives. Overcoming complex problems in the infrastructural support of the national economy and its modernization, taking into consideration modern challenges, require the development of effective public governance mechanisms, which should be regarded as a subject of further researches.
