Article submissions
Submission
In order to submit articles to the journal and monitor the current status of their manuscripts, authors must log in to the website as registered users.
Author Guidelines
The scientific journal “Herald of Economics” is published four times a year (quarterly) in Ukrainian and/or English. Articles of scientific and practical value are accepted for publication.
Submission deadlines are as follows:
• for Issue 1 – by December 25;
• for Issue 2 – by March 25;
• for Issue 3 – by May 25;
• for Issue 4 – by September 25.
To participate in the preparation of an issue, the following materials must be submitted:
- An electronic version of the article in Ukrainian or English, prepared in accordance with the requirements set out below and created in MS Word.
- Electronic versions of the abstracts in Ukrainian and English, each containing 1,800–2,100 characters including spaces.
- An electronic copy of a review from the author’s academic supervisor or another specialist in the relevant field holding an academic degree or academic title, if the article is submitted by an author without an academic degree.
- A file containing information about the author:
surname, first name and patronymic, academic degree, academic title, position, place of work, postal address, contact telephone numbers, code and title of the specialty under which the article is submitted, and e-mail address.
Articles submitted by authors are considered only after the complete set of accompanying documents has been received.
Main Requirements for Article Submission
All submitted materials must comply with the following requirements:
• The submission has not been previously published and has not been submitted for consideration to the editorial boards of other journals (unless appropriate explanations are provided in the comments to the editor).
• The submission file must be a Microsoft Word document.
On the first page:
- UDC index (placed on the left in bold capital letters).
- JEL classification code (“JEL classification:”) placed below the keywords; from 1 to 5 codes, in one line, separated by commas and in bold.
Example: JEL classification: C12, C14, C18.
- DOI: (this code is assigned by the editorial office after the article has been recommended for publication).
- One line space.
- Authors indicate their full names and surnames in italics, in English, font size 11, line spacing 1. After each surname, a superscript numeral should be added corresponding to the research institution, higher education institution, etc., represented by the author.
- One line space.
- Title of the article in English, in regular font (font size 12, line spacing 1).
- One line space.
- Abstract. The abstract in English should be written in italics, without subdivision into sections, beginning with an indented paragraph, and contain 1,800–2,100 characters including spaces. It should include: the introduction, purpose and methods of the research, results, and prospects. The abstract should use meaningful words from the article. The statements presented must follow logically. The text of the abstract should be concise and clear, free of secondary information, unnecessary introductory phrases, and general or insignificant wording.
- One line space.
- Keywords in English (in italics, beginning with an indented paragraph, not fewer than five words or phrases separated by semicolons). The keywords must not duplicate the title of the article.
- One line space.
- Information on the stages of the article’s processing in English (to be completed by the editorial office):

- If the text of the article is in English, the section “References” should be placed first, followed by “Література”. If the text of the article is in Ukrainian or Polish, “Література” should be placed first, followed by “References”.
On the final pages of the article:
- Main text – font size 12, line spacing 1.5.
- Titles of tables and figures – regular font, size 12, line spacing 1.
- Source notes below figures – in italics (regular font size 11, line spacing 1).
- “Література” (in the original language) / “References” (in English, without transliteration of the word “Література” into Latin characters) – font size 11, line spacing 1.
- In the “References” section, the title of the publication should be given only in English, with an indication of the language in which the article was originally written. Transliteration of the “Література” section into English in “References” has been abolished.
Text of the article:
• Scientific articles must contain the following essential elements: introduction (statement of the problem); analysis of recent studies and publications; purpose of the research; research methods; main research results with a full substantiation of the obtained scientific findings; conclusions and prospects for further research.
• The length of articles should be from 8 to 15 A4 pages, using 12-point Times New Roman font and 1.5 line spacing; margins: 20 mm on the left, bottom, and top, and 10 mm on the right.
• Numerical material should be presented in tables. Each table must have a serial number (printed in italics on the right, for example, “Table 1”) and a title (placed above the table in the center). Illustrations must also be numbered and have titles placed below each illustration (for example, “Fig. 2. Classification of Taxes”).
• Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the terms, names, data, quotations, statistical materials, etc., presented in the article. Abbreviations of words and phrases, except for generally accepted ones, are not allowed.
• The bibliography should be placed after the article under the heading “Література” in Ukrainian (in accordance with the requirements of the National Standard of Ukraine DSTU 8302:2015, as amended) and “References” in English (formatted according to the international APA bibliographic standard), with transliterated text according to the CMU2010 standard and DOI indicated where available.

The number of references must not be fewer than 12, and the numbering of sources should correspond to the order in which they are cited in the text.
• In every article submitted for publication, at least 50% of the references must have active DOI identifiers, especially Ukrainian and foreign scholarly articles published since 2018. The remaining references (with the exception of one or two) must contain active URLs. The list of references must include publications indexed in recognized international scientometric databases, including Scopus and Web of Science.
• References in the text should be provided in square brackets, for example, [5, p. 120; 7, pp. 94–95], where the first number indicates the serial number of the source in the bibliography and the second indicates the relevant page in that source; different sources (with pages) are separated by a semicolon.
• It is mandatory to indicate that the material is submitted for publication for the first time and has not been published previously. Materials that do not comply with these requirements are not accepted for consideration. Article manuscripts are subject to additional editorial peer review. Rejected manuscripts are not returned to the author; only the review with recommendations for revision is sent.
• The text must comply with the stylistic and bibliographic requirements set out in the Author Guidelines section of the “About the Journal” page.
• If the material is submitted to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the submission file must be prepared in accordance with the instructions for ensuring blind peer review.
• Publication of articles approved for printing by the editorial board of the scientific professional journal “Herald of Economics” is free of charge for all authors without exception.
